KAPTEN: SET-UP GUIDE 1. ACCESSORY CHECK-LIST Your Kapten pack includes: 1 Kapten 1 USB / micro-USB cable 1 retractable mini USB cable 1 set of headphones with microphone 1 external Microphone cable 1 external speaker 1 extended external battery 1 carrying case with strap 1 Quick Start Guide 2. GETTING READY First locate the 2.5 mm audio jack on the bottom left side of the Kapten. Plug the headphones into the audio jack socket on the kapten and then connect kapten to a USB port on your computer using the USB / micro-USB cable provided. As soon as your Kapten is connected to your computer it starts charging. An initial charge time of four (4) hours is required before 1st use. Note: Perform the same steps with the other mini retractable USB cable with the external speaker. Please let the battery charge on this unit as well for four (4) hours. 3. INSTALLING KAPMANAGER 3.1 INSTALLING KAPMANAGER ON A PC (WINDOWS XP & VISTA) When you connect your Kapten to your computers USB port for the first time, depending on the configuration of your system, a screen will pop up asking you to take action with one of the listed choices. Choices: KapManager (run this program) Play with specific media player Open with Windows Explorer Take no action Use the arrow keys and move to the top where "kapmanager" is located. Press enter on “kapmanager” to install the software on your computer. If the above screen does not open, and you have heard the ascending tones notifying you that you have connected your Kapten to your USB port, navigate to "My Computer and locate, the 'kapten" removable drive. Press enter or double click on the kapten to begin the kapmanager installation process. Once you have completed this, follow the wizard which will guide you through the installation of the "kapmanager" software. 3.2 INSTALLING KAPMANAGER FOR MAC (MAC OS 10.4 OR SUBSEQUENT) When you connect kapten via USB to your Mac, a “kapten” icon appears on your desktop. Double-click on the icon to explore the logical content of your kapten. Find the file “kapmanager-installer.dmg” and double-click on it. Once you have accepted the license contract, an installation window appears. Then drag and drop “kapmanager” to the Applications folder to start the installation. When you have gone through all the installation steps, the kapmanager installation becomes available in the “Applications” folder. 4. LAUNCHING KAPMANAGER AND REGISTRATION ON MYKAPSYS Once you have installed "kapmanager by double-clicking on the corresponding icon. To register yourself on the “mykapsys” space, click on the mykapsys tab in the kapmanager tab bar and fill in the online form. When your form has been validated, enter your password to gain access to the mykapsys space and initiate “synchronization”. Each time you launch kapmanager and enter your password, you can directly access your mykapsys on-line space via the mykapsys tab in kapmanager. 5. DISCONNECTING KAPTEN FROM THE COMPUTER Before disconnecting kapten from your computer, press enter or click on the “disconnect” button from the kapten tab in kapmanager and wait for the confirmation message before physically disconnecting the device. 6. PARING WITH A BLUETOOTH TELEPHONE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND RETRIEVING CONTACTS To import your telephone contacts from your (Bluetooth-compatible) phone to your kapten: 6.1. Plug in the headset and turn on your kapten (by pressing the “stop” button). Now press the “CALL” button on kapten (a voice message should say that no telephone is registered) 6.2. Turn on your telephone and check that the Bluetooth connection is activated. In the Bluetooth configuration menu, launch a search for a peripheral device. Your kapten should appear under the name “KAPTEN” * in the list of visible Bluetooth periphery devices. 6.3. Enter the pairing code: 0000* 6.4. If necessary, activate the “hands-free kit” connection on your telephone. Note: This procedure is carried out automatically by some models of telephone. 6.5. When you have established the hands-free connection, press the “CALL” button on kapten once again. If your telephone is compatible, the device asks you whether you wish to import your contacts. By replying “yes” after the beep, kapten starts importing. The end of this process is indicated by a voice message from kapten (“Downloading telephone contacts complete").
