All Sonic Alert products are self-contained (except SA400 baby cry signaler), and both detect and signal an event. You may select a receiver for notification in additional rooms. You may use multiple pieces of equipment with the same receiver; it will blink in a distinct pattern to let you know what is happening. Sonic Alert transmits through your home’s electrical system, instead of using radio waves like many other systems. This means that it is less prone to interference from cordless phones and other electronics. However, they cannot be plugged into power strips, but must be plugged directly into an electrical outlet.
